Why Then the Law?
Galatians 3:19-22. Note: there was a problem with the recording of this sermon, and the first couple of minutes were lost.
The Law and the Promise
In this passage, Paul uses the example of a human covenant (specifically, a Last Will and Testament), to demonstrate the nature of Justifying Faith.
Redeemed From the Curse of the Law
In this passage, Paul compares the blessing of the Abrahamic Covenant with the curse built into the Mosaic Law. To do this, he quotes four Old Testament passages, each emphasizing a different point in his progression of logic.
True Sons of Abraham
John Stott - “Both verses 7 & 9 affirm that the true children of Abraham (who inherit the blessing promised to his seed) are not his posterity by physical descent, the Jews, but his spiritual progeny, men and women who share his faith, namely Christian believers.”
Works of the Law or Hearing with Faith?
In Galatians 3:1-5, Paul asks the Galatian Christians five questions, in order to cause them to see the foolishness of turning away from salvation by faith in Christ alone.
Resurrection Sunday 2017
Philippians 3:7-11
Palm Sunday 2017
This week we take a break from the book of Galatians to examine the significance of Jesus' Triumphal Entry to Jerusalem.
Justified By Faith
Galatians 2:15-21.
Verse 16: "yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified."
Conduct Not In Step With The Gospel
Galatians 2:11-14. John Stott described this passage like this: "This is without doubt one of the most tense and dramatic episodes in the New Testament. Here are two leading apostles of Jesus Christ face to face in complete and open conflict."
Unity in the Gospel
Galatians 2:1-10. No audio is available for this sermon due to some technical difficulties in recording.
Not A Man's Gospel
In Galatians 1:10-24, Paul makes it clear that he did not receive his Gospel from other men, but from Jesus Christ Himself.
No Other Gospel!
The Galatian Christians were in a state of deep spiritual confusion. False teachers had infiltrated the church and had corrupted the purity of the Gospel. Paul tells them that their acceptance of this false "gospel" has resulted in an abandonment of God Himself.
